It all started when the two brothers, Dimitris and Ioannis Lizas, originally from the village of Kastanitsa in Tsakonia, Arcadia, an area that "produced" several distillers, opened in 1950 their own distillery on Frantzi Street in the area of Neos Kosmos. They learned the art of distillery from their cousins Christos and Dimitros Lisa who had come from Smyrni in Asia Minor, along with their father Elias, in 1922 with the Catastrophe, and recreated distilleries in Kallithea and Piraeus.
Engaged in the production of beverages and distillations, they gained knowledge and experience in the selection of raw materials as well as in the process of applying recipes. In 1960 they moved the headquarters of the distillery to Agios Dimitrios, in a privately owned space, where it is located until today.
Products such as Cognac and Liqueurs were among the main products. At the same time, a copper distillation stills was purchased for ouzo. There, distilling anise, fennel, star anise, coriander, Chios mastic and other fine seeds and herbs with ethyl alcohol, the family created the famous OUZO LIZAS with great care, love and respect for the tradition of art.
Since 1982, the two brothers Dimitris and Ioannis hand over the business to their two children, Sotiris and Thodoris so that this tradition can continue to the next generation, always with consistency in quality and hard work.
