Company Profile
Babatzim’s company was established in 1875 in Konstantinoupolis (Istanbul).
Owning vineyards in Deliones of Silivria the company was occupied with producing wines for exportation, and distillages (raki) for local consumption.
In the new homeland, the family distilling tradition went on with the production and promotion of Ouzo.
Since 1971 a new wind blows…Anestis Babatzimopoulos, the grandson , founds ,on the slopes of mount Vertisco, the first experimental vineyard and then followed the expansion of the company and the application of Biological Cultivation in 244km2. In Aghialos of Thessaloniki a winery and distillery of ouzo, tsipouro , distillages and a series of local wines of Macedonia and Mesimbria was already working. And very soon there was an obvious need for a new winery to be set up in the middle of the Biological vineyard in Ossa of Lagadas.
Babatzim’s winery is a member of “ROADS OF WINES OF NORTHERN GREECE” and that is a reason that it should be visited. It has areas of vinification, stabilization and bottling, wine cellars of ageing and warehouses of conservation of the red bottled wines, a room of connoisseurship in matters of taste, a permanent exhibition of photography: “Life in the vineyard”, as well as, a lecture room.
Ossa’s winery produces white wine, red wine, rose exclusively from the biological grapes of the estate. The varieties that were grown in an exceptional natural environment are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Mavroudi, Xinomavro (sourblack), Roditis, Ugni Blanc, Malvazia and Malagouzia.

Product of double distillation. It comes from all the grape varieties grown in Macedonia.
This diversity, the art of distillation and the addition of aromatic herbs and fruit during the second distillation result in a product of high quality.

Anis and aromatic herbs are added during the second distillation.
