NEW WEBSITE of the European Committee for spirit drinks with protected geographical indication.

"E-SPIRIT-DRINKS" is a database on geographical indications protected in the European Community for spirits originating in Member States and third countries.

The DG AGRI (Agriculture & Rural Development) of the European Commission creates a database on spirits with protected geographical indications (according to the Regulation (EC) No 110/2008 on the definition, presentation, labelling and the protection of geographical indications of spirit drinks and repealing Council Regulation (EEC) No. 1576/89).

So far, the database contains limited information. It doesn’t contain information on spirit drinks originating in third countries, nor the technical files of the European spirits. Such information will be posted after the publication of their technical files, in the Official Journal of the European Union.
