Boosting the industry’s extroversion and the dynamic presence of Greek spirit drinks both in and beyond the country constitutes a core objective for the Greek Federation of Spirits Producers. For the purpose of achieving the said objective, the Federation has put in place the following actions:
- As part of EU Regulations, it has submitted a co-financed program titled “Great Spirits” with regard to Greek spirit drinks of protected geographical indications (Ouzo, Tsipouro, Masticha of Chios, Tentura) (April 2010).
The target-country of the program is the USA, whereas it entails information actions (training seminars/conferences, printed informative material) and promotion-related actions (participation in exhibitions, demonstrations at points of sale, public relations). The strategy focuses on a limited number of significant states and cities (New York, Chicago, California).
Budget: € 1,500,000 (SEAOP’s participation: 30%).
Duration: Three (3) years. - Campaign to support the Ouzo category in the Greek market.
Objective: Breathing new life into the image of Ouzo. The actions to be realized include the following: printed and electronic communication (TV, magazines, Internet/social media) and events to inform public opinion.
Duration: Six-nine (6-9) months (to commence in April 2010). - KERASMA Initiative
In collaboration with the Hellenic Export Promotion Organization (HEPO) and other branches of the Food and Drink Industry, SEAOP has participated in the creation of the initiative KERASMA, which reflects the vision of getting people acquainted with the wealth of Greek gastronomy and food and highlighting the rules that form the backbone of the Greek and Mediterranean diet, thus adding the joy of eating and drinking to our everyday table.
