As part of the principles endorsed and the commitments undertaken by organizations of alcoholic beverages’ producers throughout Europe for the purpose of shielding and informing consumers, the Greek Federation of Spirits Producers has compiled a Statement of Principles and Self-regulation Plan concerning Alcoholic Drinks Advertising and Consumer Information, bearing in mind the following:
- The core principles for Self-regulation, as laid down by the non-profit organization for advertising, the European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA).
- The Greek Code of Advertising and Communication of the Communication Control Council (SEE) (Government Gazette Issue No. Α' 262/29.11.2000).
- The Code of Principles and Self-regulation Plan signed between the former Association of Alcoholic Beverages’ Companies (EEOP), the leadership of the Ministry of Health and the Cross-party Parliamentary Committee on Studying and Curbing Drugs.
The principles contained in the Statement aim at informing and shielding vulnerable social groups in particular, such as young people.
